This ODT file contains the text of the talk On Becoming and Remaining an Orthodox Christian. The speaker points out a lot of behaviors and attitudes that are dangerous for people new to or attracted by Orthodoxy. There are a lot of points that could use extensive clarification and, in a few cases, rewording. But, on the whole, this speech serves as a practical, solid warning to the many dangers that face converts to the faith and, hitting on so many different points so quickly, can serve as a "wake-up call" to people who have an unreal, idealized vision of life in the Church. I've had a digital copy of this talk since at least 2010—maybe earlier.
