Search Tools

Startpage is a search engine that uses Google to process queries anonymously, allowing users to leverage Google's power without having to share any personally identifiable information and/or be tracked; it does not even record a user's IP address. My tool and link for Startpage use HTTPS.

To search JBT.name, simply prepend the text "site:jbt.name" to your query.

Wikipedia is the most complete and accurate collection of human knowledge ever assembled in one place and one of my favorite websites ever, in terms of content, aesthetics, and usability. My tool and link for Wikipedia use HTTPS.

Wiktionary is a sister project to Wikipedia and, while it still has a ways to go, is now a viable source of lexical lore. I find it to be especially good for etymological research. My tool and link for Wiktionary use HTTPS.

This page, which I use as my homepage, contains a few carefully selected search tools and some of the external links which I use most often, helping me to speed up my work and research greatly. I work hard to ensure the size—and thus bandwidth usage—of this page is as small as possible.
