Instructions

  1. 1. Using the chef's knife and cutting board, cut the broccoli into small peices (about 1cm3 in total volume each) and place them into the medium microwave-safe bowl.
  2. 2. Microwave the broccoli until fully cooked. This takes 5–6 minutes on HIGH in my microwave oven, but mine isn't very powerful. Your cooking time may vary. (Optional: if your other ingredients aren't diced and chopped yet, this a great time to do that; the same chef's knife and cutting board can be used.)
  3. 3. Add the cooked broccoli to the food processor and process until it is very finely chopped or pureed, according to your preference.
  4. 4. Add all the other ingredients and continue processing until the mixture is thoroughly combined and further chopped, according to your preference—or simply mix by hand.

Output

You can expect ≈500g of Broccamole.

Description

This is a recipe for a dish similar to guacamole, but made with broccoli instead of avocado. Because it uses more ingredients which can grow in New Kidron and which are cheaper (avocado can be a bit pricy, not to mention it discolors and spoils more easily than broccoli), I sometimes make this instead of guacamole. Since my food processor is fairly small, the output of this recipe is small, too, but it scales up very well. It can be used in just about every application where guacamole can: with chips, as part of a layered dip, in tacos and burritos, or by itself as a side dish.

Authorship

I adapted this recipe in 2012 and 2013 from a recipe I found online[1]. I added it to my website on March 2, 2013 after a fairly lengthy period of testing and measurement (and preoccupation with other projects!). I last modified it on August 25, 2013.

I created this metadata on March 2, 2013 and last modified it on July 10, 2014.
